Petra Charbonneau serves as Vice President of Product for Centauri Insurance. In this role, Charbonneau is responsible for product development, including the associated rules and rates.

Prior to joining Centauri Insurance, Charbonneau spent almost five years with Universal North America, a start-up carrier that grew to include coverages in 17 states. During her tenure at Universal North America, Charbonneau oversaw the Auto and Flood lines of insurance, and was responsible for portfolio results, product development, underwriting and pricing. She also had responsibility for Compliance, ensuring regulatory compliance in all markets. Charbonneau was instrumental in the company’s expansion, initially joining Universal as Vice President of Expansion. In that role, she managed all aspects of business expansion including marketing, agency appointment, rules, rates, underwriting, claims, customer service, operations, systems and regulatory compliance.

Before joining Universal, Charbonneau spent 17 years with Allstate Insurance Company. She began her career as a personal lines actuary in Allstate’s Property division and eventually earned responsibility for ratemaking and research projects, preparation of rate filings, training and management of new actuaries and establishment of the new hire actuarial training program for the entire division. Additionally, Charbonneau led the implementation of the Property Strategic Risk Management initiative for Allstate, which included introduction of several rating plans new to the industry, including credit rating. Charbonneau holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She has been an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society since 2000 and is Six Sigma certified.
